Manhã de Carnaval (Morning of Carnival) is a song by Brazilian composer Luiz Bonfá and lyricist Antônio Maria, appeared as a principal theme in the 1959 Portuguese-language film Orfeu Negro by French director Marcel Camus. The film's soundtrack also included Felicidade by Antônio Carlos Jobim and Vinícius de Moraes. The principal characters of Orfeu and Euridice are based on the main musical theme of the film. The song was initially rejected for inclusion in the film by Camus, but Bonfá was able to convince the director that the music for Manhã de Carnaval was superior to the song Bonfá composed as a replacement. Manhã de Carnaval became one of the first Bossa Nova compositions to gain popularity outside Brazil. The piece has become a jazz standard in the USA. The song is also known as A Day in the Life of a Fool, Carnival, Theme from Black Orpheus, or simply Black Orpheus. In France, the song is also known as La Chanson d'Orphée.

The Deer Hunter is a 1978 American epic war drama film by Michael Cimino about a trio of Russian American steelworkers whose lives are changed forever after they fight in the Vietnam War. The film won five Academy Awards and was named the 53rd greatest American film of all time. It was Cimino's first film to use Dolby noise-reduction system. It took five months to mix the soundtrack. Cimino brought the film's composer, Stanley Myers, out to the location in Saigon to listen to the auto, tank, and jeep horns as the sequence was being photographed. The result, according to Cimino: Myers composed the music for that scene in the same key as the horn sounds, so the music and the sound effects would blend with the images to create one jarring, desolate experience.
CD LOS TANGUEROS

COMING OUT at March 02, 2018
available in CD stores, Spotify, iTunes, apple-music,
abt-music/shop....

lt seldom happens that the timbre of two instruments
harmonises as perfectly as in this recording. Unlike the
bandoneon with its dominating octaves, or the accor-
dion with its penetrating tones, the concertina remains
discreet and allows the guitar ample scope to take a full
solo role in their dialogues.
Harking back to the nostalgic charms of the tan-
go as danced in the low dives of Buenos Aires, LOS
TANGUEROS have unearthed some almost forgotten
titles from turbulent 1920s Argentina and discovered
the carefully dustedoff melodies from EI Choclo and
the Milonga de mis Amores which are the true basis for
the oeuvre of the great Astor Piazzolla.
The programme presented in this recording intenti-
onally avoids Piazzolla‘s own phenomenal pieces since
they already exist in complete recordings by countless
performers and in a variety of effective arrangements.
The musicians here were concerned instead to explo-
re the original tango forms, particularly the Milonga,
and to recreate the authentic performing style. The
four-movement Buenos Aires Suite by D. M. Pujol cle-
arly demonstrates Piazzolla‘s enormous influence both
on today‘s tango writing and on the stylistically ground-
breaking, freer works such as the Preludio Matinal or
La Gomavera, both by Walter Abt.

Walter Abt - MELTEMI tapping on Nylonstrings

The strong Meltemi wind together with those amazing summer days I spent with my friends, inspired me to compose this eponymous piece which contains various musical effects like harmonic Flageolets structures, constant key changes and tapping on the soundboard.
Walter Abt & Sol y Sombra Performing ASTURIAS (Leyenda)

by the Spanish composer and pianist Isaac Albéniz. Many arrangers have attributed the first transcription for guitar to Francisco Tárrega who put it in its most recognizable key, E minor. The piece has become one of the most important works of the classical guitar repertoire. Robbie Krieger, guitarist of The Doors, uses a reworking of the melody from this classical piece in The Doors song "Spanish Caravan" from their 1968 album Waiting For The Sun. The arrangement in its flamenco style was arranged by Walter Abt for his group Sol y Sombra. The choreography is styled by Ana Lucia Suro Soto.

Johann Sebastian Bach´s famous partita for violin solo has been adapted for lute in an exiting arrangement by Walter Abt. In order to create a more polyphonic sound than the original violin, Abt has also added chordal ornamentations and functional bass lines. Abt´s arrangement is in high regard by well kown performers and composers such as Leo Brouwer, Paulo Bellinatti, Christian Saggese and Gianfranco Grisi and will delight all listeners who love Bach.’

MOZART piano concerto 23 K488 GUITAR SOLO Walter Abt

The piano concerto 23 in A-Major by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756 - 1791) is arranged for guitar solo by the soloist himself, maintaining the original key of F#-minor also for one guitar. Walter Abt considers the concerto in A major probably the most sublime concerto Mozart ever wrote, with a slow movement that is an extremely deep and painful expression of longing, where you find the real Mozart -belonging to the last period of the immortal genius composing simultaneously Don Giovanni. The Third Man - Harry Lime goes Rock´n Roll Walter Abt arranged this celebrated soundtrack with his own musical comments; developing the piece especially in its second part in a virtuoso Rock´n Roll final. This music takes part of the CD “CINEMA PARADISO – soundtracks”, among pieces by Morricone, Mancini, Williams, Myers (www.abt-music.com).
GUAJIRAS DE LUCÌA Paco de Lucía CATALINA PIRES, guitarra Just like Johann Sebastian Bach, who composed his famous Toccata and Fugue in D minor at a the young age of 22, one of the greatest soloists and musical geniuses of this century – Paco de Lucía – wrote the Guajíras de Lucía at the same age. Catalina is interpreting this virtuoso work as homage to the great Spanish Maestro. She is catapulting herself into the magic hemisphere of Flamenco, breaking all boundaries of the common classical style of playing guitar, bravely mastering a lot of innovating Flamenco techniques like the posture, Picado, Golpe, Tresillos and Rasgueos. Pity only that Paco cannot listen to her anymore. But maybe he floats beside her like an angel smiling as her patron.
